The organiser’s overall 7–11 April window includes the preview/VIP days on 7 and 8 April. For a public fair visit, the relevant starting point is 9 April. Confirm the admission product and current programme before booking flights simply because an event calendar lists the earlier date.
A participant with preview access may have a different diary, but that entitlement comes from the organiser or invitation. This page does not designate official collector hotels, imply VIP accreditation is available to every traveller or turn an accommodation purchase into an event pass.

Choose the fair base or the wider appointment base
Madinat and Umm Suqeim make sense as starting comparisons for repeated fair attendance. The examples are Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Jumeirah Burj Al Arab, both identified as Umm Suqeim alternatives.
